医学論文表現集その25:

LSGB (laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy) 腹腔鏡下スリーブ状胃切除術論文より

筆者は日本人医師チームです。日本人的発想が上手に英語に翻訳されています。

 

1)「報告されている」を<described>を使って表現
Previously, techniques of LSG were described in details.
（これまでにLSGについては詳しい報告が行われている）
＊「報告」は英語では様々な動詞が使い分けられます。場合によっては<publish>も使われることがあるので要注意です。

 

2)「対象に」を<include>を使って表現
Our study included 100 patients who underwent LSG at our hospital between January 2000 and December 2015.
（本研究は2000年１月から2015年12月までの間に当病院でLSGを受けた100人の患者を対象に行われた）
＊<include>は「含む」というコアの意味を維持しながら、実際には様々な状況で使用されています。

 

3)「外来」を<visit to outpatient clinic>を使って表現
The follow-up included visits to the outpatient clinic at 1-, 3-, and 6- month intervals and then annually thereafter.
（経過観察は1ヵ月後、3ヵ月後、6ヵ月後、及びそれ以降は年に１回の外来診察とした）
＊ここでも<include>が使われています。また、<thereafter>は簡潔な表現です。

 

4)「データが少ない」を<data are scarce>を使って表現
Particularly, data for Asian patients are scarce.
（特にアジア人患者のデータが少ない）
＊文頭の「特に」を<Particularly,~>と表現するのは誤用だという解説を読んだことがあります。ここでは<In particular,~>が良いと思います。

 

5)「CTで発見する」を<A CT scan revealed~>を使って表現
A CT scan revealed a 7 cm lobular tumor.
（CTの結果、７ｃｍの分葉状の腫瘍が認められた）
＊「結果」は特に表現しないことが多いです。また、不定冠詞の<A>が必要。複数回行った場合はscansとなります。

 

6)「注目を集めている」を<gain popularity>を使って表現
LSG as a surgical procedure has gained popularity worldwide in recent years.
（近年LSGが世界中で注目を集めている）
＊通常は、「注目を集める」は<gain attention>を使って表現することが多いです。

 

7)「～と思われる」を<It can be assumed that~>を使って表現
It can be assumed that patients who underwent LSG are more likely to achieve good results.
（LSGを受けた患者の転帰はより良好であることが推測される）
＊「思われる」の真の意味は様々です。場合によっては<assumed>も使われます。

 

8)「～と考えられる」を<One possible reason is that~>を使って表現
One possible reason is that our hospital accepts any patients seeking for LSG procedure from all over Japan.
（我々の病院がLSGを受けたい患者を全国から受け入れていることが理由の１つと考えられる）

 

9)「保存療法を行う」を<treat conservatively>を使って表現
Those patients were treated conservatively.
（患者には保存療法を行った）

 

10)「再入院」を<readmitted>を使って表現
The patient had a high fever after a week of uneventful days and was readmitted.
（患者の経過は１週間は良好であったが、その後高熱を出し再入院となった）
